Ayahuasca treatment for PTSD in veterans, a conversation with Jared from Heroic Hearts.

Ayahuasca provides a beacon of hope for veterans grappling with treatment-resistant PTSD, offering the possibility of reclaiming their pre-traumatic selves. Operating at the forefront of this transformative therapy is Jared Rinehart, a former Marine and contractor, who has become one of the most reputable integration coaches for veterans.

He works in the renowned Heroic Hearts Project (HHP) and has made a substantial impact by aiding hundreds of veterans in overcoming PTSD. The organization not only grants them access to psychedelic programs but also offers crucial support in the form of professional coaching, peer assistance, and additional resources, empowering these veterans on their paths to healing.

Although the primary focus of the Heroic Hearts Project (HHP) is consistently the direct care of veterans, the organization is also dedicated to ongoing efforts in supporting research and advocacy for enhanced access to psychedelics. Additionally, HHP is actively involved in providing programs for the spouses of veterans, aiming to strengthen the support network for the entire veteran family.

Ayahuasca - A Life-Changing Brew

Jared Rinehart a veteran, talks about how ayahuasca is capable of helping people treat PTSD after only a couple of Ayahuasca ceremonies.

According to Jared Rinehart, "When they (veterans) come back I am always just so related with the transformations that occur after they drink ayahuasca. I would say not everybody gets through this huge transformational experience, but I would say up to 90-95 percent of the veterans that I have worked with have had life-changing experiences that had long-lasting mental health results."

An ayahuasca ceremony is a collective session led by a shaman, a traditional healer. In this gathering, participants partake in a potent psychedelic brew known as ayahuasca, which holds a significant place in the healing practices of tribes residing in the rainforests of South America. The ceremony aims to guide individuals with treatment-resistant disorders to a psychological state where the healing potential becomes attainable, and only with proper aftercare and integration great success can be achieved.

How Jared Discovered Ayahuasca

In 2011, after dedicating five years to serving as a marine, Jared found himself battling with the challenging transition from military to civilian life. Faced with the difficulties of divorce, depression, and anger issues, he sought solace in an unconventional path. Opting to become a private military contractor, he ventured back to Iraq and Afghanistan. During that period of his life, he experimented with psychedelics, although completely recreationally.

It was during one profound DMT experience that Jared received a mystical message—a directive to venture into the jungle, a place where he would find the answers he sought. Although initially scared about experimenting with ayahuasca, Jared felt an unwavering motivation, as if propelled by a personal mission. The call of the jungle beckoned him to confront the depths of his inner struggles and unearth the keys to healing.

As Jared Said, "When I smoked DMT for the first time I had an experience of being in a very familiar world that was both organic and mechanical, and this environment and this environment felt like home, that's how familiar it was. The environment communicated with me in this telepathic way and felt like I was being held by Divine Mother or God and this was the most beautiful experience I had in my life."

Portalbox for Veterans

Portalbox, initially created with a focus on students, professionals, and DMT enthusiasts, found an unexpected resonance within the veteran community. A surge of interest from veterans made us really think about our Portalbox and its service.

As Jared mentioned in the podcast. "It's not surprising to me that a lot of veterans are using your Portalbox because when I saw it, I saw the same thing; this is a beautiful set that I wouldn't mind showing my grandparents."
